A Personal Message From Walter and Susan Blanchard
To Save Just One has its roots in deep personal experience. On August 7, 2018, we lost our daughter Michelle to suicide. In that solitary act, unbeknownst to her, she became the founder of this organization. The months following her passing had a tremendous impact upon us (her parents), her husband, her daughters, her brother, aunts and uncles, and countless friends and other relatives. The accompanying pain, sadness, and emotional upheaval cannot be understood fully by anyone who has not had the experience of losing a loved one to suicide.
It has often been said that that those who die from suicide do not end their pain; they just pass it on to their survivors. We are determined that this experience, as devastating as it was, can be used to bring about good. So, motivated by our love for Michelle, we put plans in motion to form an organization with the goal of providing hope to those whose lives have been affected by suicide. This includes those with suicidal thoughts, those who have attempted suicide yet survived, and those of us whose lives are forever changed by the loss of a loved one to suicide. We hope you will join us in honoring her memory.
